Monitoring in the production of battery electrodes
At the Fraunhofer IKTS site in Dresden-Klotzsche our focus is on developing advanced non-destructive testing solutions for ceramics and many other materials. We are constantly working on new solutions. We would like to present some of these to you in our new NDT4INDUSTRY online seminar series.
Next seminar on / November 29, 2023, 3:00 p.m. CET – Monitoring in the production of battery electrodes with Prof. Henning Heuer (Systems for Testing and Analysis)
The electrodes are the active core element of battery cells. For their defect-free production, Fraunhofer IKTS offers unique monitoring systems that can be integrated at various points in the production line. This allows continuous monitoring of processes such as electrode slurry mixing, coating, drying or calendering.
Prof. Henning Heuer will present monitoring technologies that address different challenges in electrode production at the upcoming NDT4INDUSTRY online seminar. Using illustrative examples, he will explain how process fluctuations or small defects can be detected using ultrasonics, eddy current or Laser Speckle Photometry. The relevance and implications of the defects can be further evaluated using laboratory methods such as NanoCT or transmission electron microscopy.
In a subsequent lab tour, Dr. Mareike Partsch will show you a pilot line in which new materials, manufacturing and monitoring technologies for battery electrode production are tested at Fraunhofer IKTS.
