Prof. Karl Leo für den Europäischen Erfinderpreis 2021 nominiert!

The European Patent Office (EPO) today announced that physics professor Karl Leo of TU Dresden has been nominated for the 2021 European Inventor Award as a finalist in the „Lifetime Achievement“ category.

EPO is honoring Prof. Leo’s pioneering work in the field of organic semiconductors, which led to the development of high-efficiency organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic solar cells and organic transistors. Currently, half of the world’s smartphones and many types of solar cells incorporate his technology.

In a career spanning over 30 years he has also founded several tech companies in the field of organic electronics, including OES, Novaled and Heliatek.
